Enriched Personalized Inquiry (Independent Study): Roles and Responsibilities

Mentor (PAVE)
-visit the student once every three weeks (approximately 1 hour per session)
-help connect student talent to a unique expression of that gift
-provide semester timelines and parameters to student projects
-celebrate the ongoing accomplishments
-communicate regularly with the home and the school representative
-qualitative report upon project completion (Cum. File), with copies to the school representative and the home

-provide location, time that is curriculum friendly
-help identify specific interests/talents
-some supervision (be that library, study room, computer lab, etc.)
-ongoing interest, reinforcement, celebration (school representative)
Parent/Guardian
-help identify interests/talents
-help craft the project proposal (be that a Powerpoint, e-video, flow chart, oral presentation, written proposal etc.)
-ongoing celebration and reinforcement; this project may take place in the home/community and in after-school hours
-communicate with the school/mentor regarding needs, questions, and project activities
Student
-express strong scholarly interest/ability
-craft a proposal that outlines the details of the project (with the home)
-ongoing commitment to the study
-willing and happy to communicate with the support team
